Central Kalahari Game Reserve is 52 800 sq.km in size and lies with in Ghanzi District, central part of Botswana and together with the Khutse Game Reserve they form the largest Game Reserve Complex in Botswana and the third largest in the world. The reserve is home to many animals and about 220 bird species which live in the silver terminalia sandveldt, Kalahari sand acacias, and Kalahari appleleaf, interspersed with grasslands, and dotted with occasional sand dunes, pans and shallow fossil river valleys.
Animals in this park include: wildebeest, hartebeest, eland, springbok, kudu, giraffe, brown hyena, warthog, cheetah, wild dog, leopard, lion, eland and gemsbok.
Bird species include: Kori Bustard, Lappet-faced Vulture, Burchell's Sandgrouse, Grey-backed Sparrowlark, Kalahari Scrub-Robin and African Wren-Warbler, Crimson-breasted Shrike and Violet-eared Waxbill, Pale Chanting Goshawk and Northern Black Korhaan.
