Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is 36 000 sq kms in size and is now shared by both South Africa and Botswana as a protected area, and is jointly managed. It’s a home to over 300 species of birds and some 60 mammalian species have been recorded which live in the shrub savanna, open grass savanna, Acacia. Kgalagadi is Africa's first peace park
Animals in this park include: antelope, springbok, gemsbok, hartebeest, eland, black-maned Kalahari lion, jackal, brown hyena, wild cats, cheetah, leopard, brown hyena, bat-eared fox, lynx, and silver fox.
Bird species include: Wild ostrich, the Cori bustard.

Access:
By Road: Drive from Gaborone for about 550km until Tsabong. From there travel for about 310km on gravel road. The alternative route is to travel from Gaborone to Hukuntsi on tarred road for 565km followed by approximately 110km of sand road
The park is situated approximately 250 km from Upington in the far northern Cape and 904 km from Johannesburg.
By air: fly to Upington and then connect by car
