Nxai Pan National Park covers an area of 2 578 sq kms. In this park wildlife viewing is seasonal, and dependent on if and when the rains come, and when animals migrate. Nxai Pan National Park is in north-eastern Botswana. The vegetation in this park is mainly forest, savanna woodland, Acacia trees, Mopane woodland and open grassland. Nxai Pan was once part of the old Makgadikgadi lake bed. Nxai Pan National Park lies just north of the Maun-Nata main road and adjoins the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park on its northern border.
Animals in this park include: giraffe, springbok, bat-eared foxes, hartebeest, gemsbok, wildebeest, buffalo, eland, zebra, elephant, impala, lion, cheetah, wild dog and brown hyena.

If the rains have been good, December to April is the best time to visit.
Access:
By Road: The Park is 50 kms from the Nata-Maun Road.
Take the Nxai Pan turn-off which is 138 km from Maun and 167km from Nata. It's 35 km on this road to the Nxai Pan gate.
